2021 Eisenstone Marananga Shiraz
WINERY: Eisenstone
REGION: Tanunda Barossa Valley South Australia
TYPE: Shiraz
ALCOHOL BY VOLUME: 14.5%
BOTTLE SIZE: 750ml
A complex wine of extremely high quality. Deep, dark, opaque and very youthful in the glass. Aromas are all in the dark zone: plums, berries, chocolate, with a touch of Christmas pudding spice thrown in for good measure, plus a little touch of graphite lift.
The Maranaga colour is a deep ruby hue with an intensity and depth. Maranaga wines are known for their forest berry fruit characters and this wine is no exception. The nose has blackberry and smoky char-oak aromas with a touch of tar and ironstone. The palate is full bodied, with hints of violets and floral characters that give an added dimension to the wine. The vibrant tannins provide structure and will provide longevity to the wine as it ages. This is a super delicious wine
Winemaking
The grapes were fermented in small batches and after fermentation was matured in 50% new French oak for 20 months prior to bottling. Minimal intervention is used in the winemaking process and the wine is moved minimal times prior to bottling and is not cold stabilised or filtered.
Eisenstone creator and winemaker Stephen Cook secures special parcels of grapes from the 'western ranges' of the famous Barossa Valley which are renowned for producing fuller bodied, powerful wines with amazing depth of flavour and exceptional aging ability to make his wines released under the Eisenstone label.
