Join us at Annata on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th January 2026 for Australia’s Best Wines – Battle of the States, an exclusive showcase of Australia’s most exciting producers and regional styles. Hosted by wine expert Nick Barlow, this immersive evening features ten outstanding wines matched to a five-course degustation menu crafted by Executive Chef Jordon Garcia, complete with amuse bouche and petit fours.
The star of the night is a truly rare Pinot Noir from Australia’s number one winemaker, Nick Farr. Nick has granted Annata access to a tiny allocation of an experimental Pinot Noir, somewhat understatedly labelled simply “By Farr Pinot Noir”. Drawn from the finest section of the iconic Côte Vineyard, only three barrels of this wine were produced in both 2022 and 2023. Crafted outside the standard By Farr range, this micro-production wine reflects the purest expression of Nick Farr’s talent and the Côte’s exceptional terroir. Very few venues will ever have the opportunity to pour it, so this is a genuine privilege for Pinot Noir lovers.
The evening continues with a curated exploration of Australia’s premium styles: a sparkling Blanc de Noir from Helen’s Hill, a Riesling duel between Clare Valley and Great Southern, a powerful Chardonnay pairing from Wilyabrup and the Yarra Valley, a state-versus-state Shiraz comparison featuring Barossa and Hunter Valley icons, and a luscious Botrytis Semillon finale.
An extraordinary night of rare wine and Australian excellence awaits.
