Savannah Estate Wines is part of a long and deeply personal Hunter Valley story, built on family, continuity and the passing of winemaking knowledge from one generation to the next. The label is named after Savannah Peterson, a third-generation member of the renowned Peterson wine family, whose roots in the Hunter Valley stretch back to the early 1980s when her grandparents, Ian and Shirley Peterson, helped establish the family’s reputation in the region.

Savannah grew up immersed in vineyards, cellar doors and the culture of wine. Her father, Colin Peterson, continued the family’s expansion and involved her from a young age, encouraging curiosity and hands-on learning. Over time, what began as family influence became personal passion. Savannah has described wine as something that never feels like work, a reflection of her strong emotional connection to both people and place.

The Savannah Estate brand reflects this next generation of Hunter Valley winemaking, balancing heritage with experimentation. Working closely with long-time Hunter winemaker Gary Reed, Savannah has helped develop a portfolio that explores alternative varieties and modern styles while respecting traditional regional character. This collaboration blends experience and youthful energy, producing wines that are approachable yet expressive, designed to welcome both casual drinkers and serious enthusiasts.

Family remains at the centre of the story. The Petersons’ broader wine and hospitality footprint spans multiple cellar doors and tourism ventures, creating a culture where guests are treated as part of the extended family rather than simple visitors. Savannah herself has stepped into leadership roles across the business, shaping its direction while maintaining the warm, informal Hunter Valley hospitality that defines the brand.

Today, Savannah Estate represents continuity and renewal in equal measure; a label that honours the legacy of the Peterson family while signalling a confident new chapter led by a young winemaker determined to preserve tradition, embrace innovation and keep the Hunter Valley story alive for the next generation.
