2021 Domain Cornu Clos de Magny Cotes de Nuits Village

2021 Domain Cornu Clos de Magny Cotes de Nuits Village
A fantastic Burgundy if you appreciate elegant, terroir-driven Pinot Noir with freshness and balance. Clos de Magny is a monopole (single-owner vineyard), meaning Domaine Cornu has full control over its quality and winemaking approach.
Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Region of Origin: Côte de Nuits Villages, Burgundy
Tasting Notes
The aromas include plum skins and rose petals with
sweet earthy tones. Firm acidity embraces the back end, supporting supple cherry flavours. The palate has lively acidity with flavours of red currant, sour cherry, and cranberry. A mineral undertone, firm tannins, and a juicy mouthfeel contribute to its overall structure.
Winemaker and Winemaking
Alex Cornu has been the winemaker since 2008, taking over from his father Claude who previously worked for many years with Aubert de Villaine at Romanee Conti (DRC) before returning to the family business and growing the family holdings to 20 hectares.
The Vineyards
The Cornu estate has holdings on 14 titles in both the Côtes de Beaune and Côtes de Nuits, across 19 acres farmed organically and vinified traditionally resulting in pure whites and muscular reds that age well. It has been a family business for four generations. During the past 40 years, Colette and Claude grew the business but today, their son Alexandre manages the vineyard and winemaking assisted by his wife Isobelle. The winery is in Magny les Villers, a small village between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune. This village benefits from an exceptional geographical location in the heart of the Côte D'Or, between the world-famous Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.
