The Vineyards
Château de Meursault has recently undergone major developments under the direction of Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, whose family hails from a highly respected Domaine in Aloxe Corton. It is one of the Côte de Beaune’s most richly endowed estates, indeed no less than 23 hectares of its holdings lie in Premier Cru and Grand Cru appellations. The estate’s origins go back to the 11th century. From 1666 it was owned by Pierre de Blancheton, a lawyer in the Burgundy Parliament, and it remained in his family until the Revolution. The vineyards cover an extraordinary 65 hectares, from Savigny Lès Beaune through to Meursault. In 2019 the estate was certified as fully organic under Stéphane’s guidance. Clos des Chenes is situated on the cooler, higher slopes of this highly respected vineyard at 270 metres above sea level. The vines are 45 years old and planted in cool marne white clay soils at the top of the slope.
