Tasting Notes
This gamay strikes a fine balance between vibrancy and refinement. The colour is deep ruby with an aromatic bouquet of floral accents, fresh black fruits, and spices. On the palate, it presents a refreshing start, evolving into a rounded body with smooth, enduring supple tannins. TThe wine is well structured, with a fresh mouthfeel and full texture.
Winemaker and Winemaking
The winemaker is Emmanuel Reynaud. He has managed the estate since 1989 and follows organic farming methods, including horse ploughing and late hand-harvesting. His winemaking approach involves whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts and minimal intervention, producing sought-after wines known for their complexity and aromatic depth. The grapes are handpicked and partially de-stemmed before undergoing long vatting periods (more than 15 days). Extraction is done by pump-over (remontage), but also by punch down (pigeage), to extract colour, matter and complexity. Fermentation takes place under temperature control. After pneumatic pressing, the malolactic fermentation takes place gently and slowly throughout the winter after which the wine is bottled in the spring. The wines are always aged for several months at the chateau before release.
