Join us at Annata for an immersive five-course wine dinner called Rooted in France when we explore a simple idea that runs through every serious French vineyard: how and where a vine is grown decides what ends up in the glass! We will taste the "Je ne sais quoi" of French terroir by sampling ten delicious wines grown Méthode Française together with a fabulous French inspired menu curated by Annata’s Executive Chef Jordon Garcia. We will learn how the flavours are influenced by the soil, viticulture methods, climate, and traditions of French winemaking guided throughout by French language and wine expert, Ian Barr. This event will be held over two special evenings – Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th August 2026.
The evening opens with J. Lassalle's Champagne Brut Rose, a fourth-generation grower house built on fifty-year-old vines and indigenous yeast fermentation. The whites move through the Loire's Muscadet, Alsace's Pinot Gris and the high, mineral slopes of Chablis, before Burgundy proper arrives with Tollot-Beaut's single-vineyard Savigny-les-Beaune Monopole. Mornington Peninsula's Elanto Vineyard, planted at Burgundian density, stands alongside its French counterparts through both the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir courses - a direct answer to the same question, asked six thousand kilometres away. The reds close through Gigondas and a Saint-Emilion from Chateau La Gaffeliere, before a Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise brings the evening to its sweet finish.
